Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Police Department  put out a reminder that New Jersey law requires drivers approaching stationary emergency vehicles, tow trucks, garbage trucks and other highway safety vehicles displaying red, blue and/or amber flashing lights to move over one lane or, if not safe to move over, then slow down below the posted speed limit.

This video captured by a Glen Rock Police Vehicle on October 27th, 2018 shows the importance of this law. In this case neither the DOT workers nor the Glen Rock Police Officer suffered any serious injury.

Officers assisting with roadside incidents, utility construction and even directing traffic in front of the Glen Rock High School are often confronted with distracted or impatient motorists. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention when approaching public safety, towing and maintenance personnel who may be present on any roadway.

  1. Used to see this on R17 all the time.

Service vehicle drives on the left forcing everyone to move over to the right affecting drivers in 2 lanes instead of driving on the right shoulder and not affecting the flow of traffic.

  2. Cops are aholes….on duty OFF DUTY. why we must bend over for these criminals in uniforms

  3. Hope nether you nor a member of your family need police assistance any time soon.

  4. When approached by an emergency vehicle, drivers are required to pull over as far as possible to the right hand side of the road and stop.

  5. It’s amazing how many drivers have no respect for people that are working in the street. Some hve no patience whatsoever, It’s amazing how many drivers do not even pay attention when driving , and what’s around them .i don’t get it. Someone is going to get killed.

  7. Hoping that “jeff” is not Jeff Voigt, who is known for road rage.
