Jersey City NJ, NJ state troopers helped escort World War II veteran, Sidney Walton, through New Jersey during his Veterans Day Parade from Washington D.C. to New York.
Troopers met the 101-year-old veteran at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA and teamed up with members of the Pennsylvania State Police to get him safely into New Jersey. Troopers then escorted Sidney along the New Jersey Turnpike to the Holland Tunnel where members of the New York State Police and New York City Police Department guided Sidney into New York.

Despite the rain, several troopers also saluted Sidney as he made his way up the New Jersey Turnpike. Sidney, a New York native now residing in San Diego and one of America’s last WWII veterans, is on a national “No Regrets Tour.”
Today’s trip is part of his greater mission to visit all 50 states and meet all 50 governors in order to educate the public on the sacrifices WWII veterans made for this great country.
Sidney regrets not being able to meet any veterans from the Civil War, so he decided to embark on this journey across the country to give everyone an opportunity to meet a WWII veteran before it’s too late. Sidney travels with his son in their specially painted patriotic vehicle.
Sidney Walton, 101, one of America’s last WWII vets, regretted missing a chance to meet Civil War vets.  So he began the No Regrets Tour to all 50 states, meeting all 50 governors and everyone who wants to meet a WWII vet.

Born Feb. 11, 1919 in New York City, Sidney joined the Army at 22 to fight Hitler nine months before Pearl Harbor. As a Corporal, he fought in the China, Burma, India (CBI) Theater, 34th Infantry, 8th Division. The only time he took a break in five years of war was to attend his mother’s funeral back home in NYC.

In this 75th anniversary year of the end of WWII, Sidney is reminding everyone of the courage it took and the sacrifices soldiers made to save this great country.

  1. My 97 year old uncle is a vet living in Palo Alto.

    That’s a nice story.

  2. That was very nice, I’m sure the Bro’s are making big money on overtime for that one.
