New Fentanyl Vaccine Called Potential ‘Game Changer’ for Opioid Epidemic

Houston TX, a research team led by the University of Houston has developed a vaccine targeting the dangerous synthetic opioid fentanyl that could block its ability to enter the brain, thus eliminating the drug’s “high.” The breakthrough discovery could have major implications for the nation’s opioid epidemic by becoming a relapse prevention agent for people trying to quit using opioids. While research reveals Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) is treatable, an estimated 80% of those dependent on the drug suffer a relapse.

Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine Demonstrates Near 90% Efficacy in UK Phase 3 Trial

GAITHERSBURG MD,  Novavax, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVAX), a biotechnology company developing next-generation vaccines for serious infectious diseases, today announced that NVX-CoV2373, its protein-based COVID-19 vaccine candidate, met the primary endpoint, with a vaccine efficacy of 89.3%, in its Phase 3 clinical trial conducted in the United Kingdom (UK). The study assessed efficacy during a period with high transmission and with a new UK variant strain of the virus emerging and circulating widely. It was conducted in partnership with the UK Government’s Vaccines Taskforce. Novavax also announced successful results of its Phase 2b study conducted in South Africa.

Murphy Signs DePhillips bill putting New Jersey at the forefront of science and technology

Midland Park NJ,  Legislation (A3652/S2329) sponsored by Assemblyman Christopher DePhillips establishing a state commission on science, innovation and technology is now law.
DePhillips said the new law will help make New Jersey one of the most innovative states in the country in science and technology. New Jersey is currently a global leader in biotechnology, especially pharmaceuticals, but other states have been ramping up their efforts to get the industry to come to them.
