Ridgewood NJ, Dr. Fishbein gave an update on the novel coronavirus (COVID-2019). The district is monitoring the information being released by the Centers for Disease Control and the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH). Three letters regarding COVID-2019 have been sent to the school community, as well as two flu season letters. Students are being reminded to wash their hands and avoid touching their eyes and nose. Schools are closely monitoring the hand sanitizer dispensers to ensure that they are filled. Families who have traveled and returned from high impact areas have voluntarily quarantined. The NJDOH does not recommend closure of schools; the decision to close school is made by the superintendent unless a state of emergency is declared. The district has been communicating with Department of Health for the Village of Ridgewood. Parents are reminded to keep children home if they are sick. Letters and important resources for the community can be found on the district website. Click here to access the Health Notices page.
