Fair Lawn NJ, multiple towns in Bergen and Passaic counties reported flash floods and closed roads after thunderstorms moved through the area.
At least five (5) passenger vehicles were destroyed Monday afternoon, 07/18, by a flash flood waters on Broadway in Fair Lawn, underneath the New Jersey Transit railroad tracks, near Fair Lawn’s border with Elmwood Park. All vehicles’ drivers & passengers safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of rescue personnel. A police authorized towing company was on scene beginning the removal process before flood waters even began to lower. No injuries were reported. Traffic was detoured around the flooded roadway for an extended period.
