Ridgewood NJ, there have multiple reports of foxes by residents of Ridgewood and Paramus in recent weeks . North Jersey, characterized by its diverse landscapes and urban expanses, harbors a hidden treasure within its natural realms — the enchanting world of red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and grey foxes (Urocyon cinereoargenteus). These cunning and adaptable canines have carved out a niche in the ecosystem, offering residents and wildlife enthusiasts a glimpse into the wild within the proximity of metropolitan life.

Foxes, Especially Red foxes, Commonly live in Close Association with Human Residences and Communities

Twp. of Washington NJ, in April we reported on a Fox incident in Ridgewood . We have heard there have been some issues in Twp. of Washington as well.  Problems associated with foxes include depredation on domestic animals, perceptions of danger to humans (healthy foxes pose virtually no danger to humans), and their potential to carry disease organisms. Foxes will prey on small livestock such as ducks, chickens, rabbits, and young lambs, but generally do not bother larger livestock. Cats may also be preyed on. Foxes often carry their prey to a secluded area or their den where it is eaten by the adults and young.
