Sussex County Voters Reject “Immigrant Trust Directive”

Andover NJ, It seems voters in Sussex County do not trust Attorney General Gurbir Grewal’s “Immigrant Trust Directive”.Voters in Sussex County Tuesday overwhelming supported a public question about continuing to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, despite a statewide directive issued by Attorney General Gurbir Grewal, which limits voluntary assistance from law enforcement officers.

According to unofficial results, the question passed by a huge margin with 67% support, as 22,081 voted “Yes” while 10,982 voted “No.”

Designed to strengthen the trust between law enforcement officers and the state’s immigrant community by ensuring that crime victims and witnesses feel safe reporting crimes. The Directive limits the types of voluntary assistance that law enforcement officers of all types in NJ can give to federal immigration officers.” Having read the directive myself” commented Dist. 22 GOP candidate Patricia Quattrocchi. ” I can say that it amounts to making NJ a Sanctuary State by protecting illegal immigrants from capture by Federal ICE officers who are doing their job by enforcing the law.”

Trenton NJ, Earlier this year, Governor Phil Murphy’s administration ordered local law enforcement officials to stop cooperating with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents when detaining criminals who are also illegal immigrants.

Last week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested more than 50 illegal immigrants and issued wanted posters for several more who were intentionally released from prisons under the Governor’s Administration’s directive. Among those released were two men charged with domestic violence and a man arrested for alleged sexual assault on a minor child.

Twice Deported Illegal Alien Charged With Kidnapping Minor and Sex Trafficking

Paterson NJ, A Passaic County, New Jersey, man has been charged by indictment with kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and transporting her to Ohio, as well as with being in the United States illegally after previously being deported, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Juan Carlos Morales-Pedraza, 33, of Paterson, New Jersey, was charged in a superseding indictment with one count of kidnapping, one count of transportation of a minor, and one count of re-entry of removed aliens. He was arraigned today before U.S. District Judge Stanley R. Chesler in Newark federal court and pleaded not guilty.

Ridgewood NJ, Senator Joe Pennacchio condemned Governor Murphy’s sanctuary state policies that resulted in the release from county jail of an illegal immigrant who was arrested for sexual assault of a minor, despite a detainer request by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). A directive from the Attorney General has prohibited local law enforcement agencies from working with federal immigration authorities.

New Jersey Becomes Sanctuary State

Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal today announced amendments to the New Jersey Immigrant Trust Directive that will end wholesale New Jersey’s participation in 287(g) agreements, which invite discrimination by deputizing local law enforcement to become federal immigration agents. The changes to the directive also add two carve-outs to the concerning list of exceptions in which law enforcement can ask about immigration status.

New Jersey is one of the first states to sever ties with the 287(g) program.
