The event was a vibrant testament to the deep Italian heritage that runs through the heart of the community.

The celebration underscored the importance of cultural pride and recognized the indelible mark Italian Americans have made across all facets of American life—from art and science to government and community service.

Out of the Shadows: NJ Mayor Moves Christopher Columbus Statue to Park’s Front Archway to ‘Honor its Roots’

Garfield NJ, A Short, but Symbolic, Voyage , A statue of Christopher Columbus in Garfield, New Jersey, recently embarked on a far shorter voyage than its namesake, moving just a few hundred feet within the park named in his honor. On October 6th, local officials oversaw the relocation of the monument to a much more prominent spot at the park’s main entrance.

Garfield Renames Park to Honor Christopher Columbus Amid Ongoing Controversy

Garfield NJ, Officials in Garfield, New Jersey, have restored Christopher Columbus’s name to a local park, just months after it was removed. In a unanimous decision during a special meeting on Friday, the Garfield City Council renamed the property on Outwater Lane from “Champion Park” to “Columbus Park – City of Champions.”

The council also approved an additional $22,000 in funding to replace park signage as part of a broader $5.6 million improvement project.

Ridgewood Columbus Day Closing – Monday, October 9th, 2023

Ridgewood NJ, Monday, October 9th is Columbus Day and all Village offices will be closed.  Village Sanitation and Recycling services will not take place that day and the Recycling Center will be closed.
