N.J. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Bracken statement on the Fiscal Year 2026 State Budget

Trenton NJ, we are deeply disappointed in this year’s budget. It marks the eighth consecutive year of overspending and continues to show a troubling lack of focus on growing New Jersey’s current and future economies. This budget makes the state less affordable, less competitive, and less business friendly. Rather than driving progress, it maintains a status quo that has failed to deliver real economic success – and it’s not what New Jerseyans want, as reflected in a recent Rutgers-Eagleton poll showing widespread dissatisfaction with the state’s economic direction.

New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Wakes Up , Scolds Trenton Democrats Calling 2.5% CBT “Punitive and Egregious”

Trenton NJ, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Bracken, delivering testimony this morning in front of the Assembly Budget Committee, said the proposed $56 billion state budget would inflict damage on New Jersey’s economy and its reputation as an improving destination to run a business. Bracken primarily took aim at what he called a “punitive and egregious” 2.5% Corporation Business Tax hike on the state’s biggest employers.

N.J. Chamber of Commerce , It’s Time to Start Standing Up For Residents and Businesses

Trenton NJ, N.J. Chamber President and CEO Tom Bracken continues to kiss up to Governor Murphy and the Democratic legislator . In a statement Bracken claimed  that last Wednesday and Thursday, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce held a very successful “ReNew Jersey Business Summit and Expo” in Atlantic City. Some news coverage of the Summit included a comment made by me, in regard to the plight of the business community, that suggested the governor and Legislature “are not doing anything about it of substance.” Braken owned it then proceeded to back peddle and play CYA .

Ridgewood  NJ, N.J. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Bracken pointed out facts on Phil Murphy’s catastrophic budget . In making this proposal, the Governor said there is no proof New Jersey’s highest bracket taxpayers are leaving the state. The study by Wealth X in 2019 showed very clearly that more than 5,000 residents with net worth over $1 million had fled New York and New Jersey in 2018.
