Newark NJ, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today kicked off construction of the agency’s project to add a new entry point to the Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station served by AirTrain Newark, Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT rail. The project will dramatically expand transit and airport access for historically underserved areas of Newark and Elizabeth.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Reopens Newark Airport Runway 13 Days A head of Schedule

Newark NJ, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today announced that a runway that had been closed for a planned rehabilitation at Newark Liberty International Airport will reopen 13 days ahead of schedule, allowing regular runway operations to resume at Newark Liberty on Monday, June 2. The Port Authority continues to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in its efforts to return capacity to the airport.

The Port Authority Launches Major PATH System Upgrade

The 20-bike secure bicycle parking enclosure outside the Midtown Bus Terminal offers innovative, secure bike storage options through an agency partnership with Brooklyn-based company Oonee, which maintains several bike parking pods in New York and New Jersey.

PATH Debuts 9-Car Service on the Newark-World Trade Center Line

The George Washington Bridge (GWB) will be the largest and busiest of the agency’s three Hudson River crossings to completely modernize its tolling infrastructure to 21st century standards following activation of a similar system at the Holland Tunnel in December 2020.

PORT AUTHORITY UNVEILS PLAN FOR 42nd STREET BUS TERMINAL REPLACEMENT

New York NY, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today unveiled a new plan for the proposed Midtown Bus Terminal project which will completely reimagine the world’s busiest bus terminal and its connection to the Lincoln Tunnel. The new plan laid out in the Port Authority’s final scoping document released today provides for a nearly 40 percent increase in transit rider capacity while responding to the needs of the local community. The new terminal will be designed to serve 100 percent electric bus fleets and will feature cutting-edge technology to manage and speed bus movements in the terminal – using both autonomous vehicle technology and AI-aided traffic management. The release of the Port Authority’s final scoping document describing the new plan based on an extensive public consultation sets the stage for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to begin the federal environmental review process consistent with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and FTA regulations.
