1.Introduction: Promoting Health in Our Community

It’s easy to view cigarette smoking as a problem for the individual, they’re mistakes, they’re problems. This kind of thinking is deeply problematic on two fronts.  First of all, smoking has a deep effect on society as a whole. Smokers tend to have greater health problems than non smokers, thus putting more of a strain on health providers. Not only that but smokers are usually less healthy, living shorter lives, taking more sick days and generally putting a strain on the community they live in.  And finally our community is just a collection of individuals, nobody should get left behind.

Ready to Quit Smoking? “Quit, Don’t Switch” to E-Cigarettes

The American Lung Association reminds the public that e-cigarettes, or vaping, is not quitting smoking

Ridgewood NJ, Along with hitting the gym more often and starting a diet, quitting smoking tops many New Year’s resolution lists. There are 873,600 smokers in New Jersey and more than 63% tried to quit last year. New ads from e-cigarettes companies would have those smokers falsely believe that switching to vaping is quitting smoking. The American Lung Association is reminding Pennsylvanians that the Food and Drug Administration has not found any e-cigarette to be safe and effective in helping smokers quit.
