Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Fire department and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue units were dispatched to investigate a significant leak involving two (2) large steel cylinders containing chlorine gas at a Fair Lawn Water Department water treatment facility late Saturday morning, 09/15. Bergen County HazMat, Hawthorne Fire Department, and an ambulance from Saddle Brook were also on the scene at 9-14 Cadmus Place, Fair Lawn until the leak was contained. No injuries were reported, nor were there any evacuations ordered of area homes. A high school football game being played directly across the street from the plant was also unaffected by the gas release.
