Ridgewood NJ, the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Chemical Education recently published “Invention as a Complement to High School Chemistry,” which documents the step-by-step journey of the Ridgewood High School team that invented the Solar Aqua Tech (SAT) water bottle, a self-sanitizing and sustainable bottle designed to address two worldwide problems: satisfying the need for safe drinking water and reducing plastic waste. Co-authored by the entire SAT team and mentors, “the intent of the article was to provide SAT students with a permanent record of their extraordinary accomplishments and to share our invention education experience with other educators. It is an honor to have our paper accepted for publication in the prestigious education journal,” said Dr. Labowsky, chemistry/physics teacher and Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam Educator. https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.jchemed.2c00135?ref=pdf
