Influenza (“the flu”) and COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus, are both infectious respiratory illnesses. Although the symptoms of COVID-19 and the flu can look similar, the two illnesses are caused by different viruses.

As of Feb. 11, 2020, the flu is showing much more of an impact on Americans than COVID-19. You can find up-to-date information on COVID-19 at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The flu season can be a pretty intimidating thing each year. It doesn’t matter if you’re in New Jersey, Los Angeles, or anywhere else in the huge nation of the United States. You have to do everything in your power to keep the illness away. There are so many healthcare centers in the Garden State and elsewhere that are getting things ready for the general public. They’re ordering essentials such as surgical masks. The reality is, though, that surgical mask supplies are understandably running low. If you’re unable to get your hands on a durable and reliable surgical mask, then you should try to safeguard yourself from germs in a number of effective ways.
