Hackensack NJ, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is investigating a possible cluster of Legionnaires’ disease cases in residents of municipalities across Passaic County and Bergen County and is encouraging residents who develop symptoms suggestive of Legionnaires’ disease to seek medical evaluation.

N.J. Department of Health Announces Probable Case of Monkeypox; Risk to New Jerseyans Remains Low

Trenton NJ,  the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) today announced the first probable case of monkeypox in the state.  A PCR test conducted by the Department’s Public Health and Environmental Laboratories confirmed the presence of orthopoxvirus in a North Jersey individual on June 18. A confirmatory test for the monkeypox virus – one of the viruses associated with the orthopoxvirus genus – will be done by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Department of Health believes that the risk to New Jerseyans remains low.

New Jersey Department of Health Releases Updated COVID-19 School Recommendations

Ridgewood NJ, The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) today released updated COVID-19 K-12 operational guidance for local health departments (LHDs). The updated guidance, which reflects recent changes to K-12 recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is aligned with the Administration’s goal of opening schools for in-person instruction for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
