The Veterans of Foreign Wars vividly remembers the needless and tragic deaths of our veterans and family members residing in the Menlo Park and Paramus Memorial Homes. We still mourn the loss of our comrades in arms and as we have from the beginning, continue to fight for them and those who survived.

Paramus NJ,No one can deny that the veterans, spouses, and Gold Star parents residing in our state operated veteran nursing homes located in Paramus and Menlo Park suffered higher COVID -19 death and infection rates than anywhere else in New Jersey, and arguably the world. Since March, 24 % of the veterans residing at the Paramus Memorial Home have died of COVID 19, and 17% at the Menlo Park Home suffered the same fate.

Paramus NJ, The membership of the Veterans of Foreign Wars is closely monitoring the COVID 19 situation at the Paramus and Menlo Park Memorial Homes and its effects on the veterans, spouses and Gold Star families residing in the homes. We all mourn the deaths and promise to every family member that we will use every resource available to ensure adequate staffing, funding, and procedures to care for those ill and prevent future infections. We owe a huge thank you to the 25 additional nurses who volunteered to assist the residents along with the 90 Veterans Affairs nurses and National Guard troops deployed to the homes.
