Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Saurabh Dani challenged the bidding process “Display Advertising at the Train Station” . On Facebook Dani said , “Our village is going to sign a contract next week for 5 years (FIVE YEARS) for “Display Advertising at the Train Station” – where there was ONLY ONE BIDDER for our bid notice – and the revenue is divided at 60-40 with NO MINIMUM commitment / no retainer / no control by the village on the advertising rates. Is that how this industry works? i.e. 5 year long contracts, no minimum retainers? We have a chronic problem of ONLY ONE BIDDER for most of our bids – don’t know why no one wants to do business with our village except the repeat vendors, but still – 5 years contract based on ONE bid response?”
