ROSELAND NJ, The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) Emerging Leaders Council delivered more than 6,600 pounds of food and supplies — the most donations ever — to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and local food banks throughout the state as part of its 10thannual Food Drive in November. This year’s food drive also featured an inaugural virtual component, in which a separate collection raised $2,028.
“The annual food drive is a great chance for those of us in the business world to provide some substantial help to those in our community who are less fortunate. Our support grows every year, and it is wonderful to be able to deliver aid to those in need,” said Katherine Zech, CPA, senior manager at PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP and leader of the Emerging Leaders Council.
Eleven CPA firms opened their doors as donation sites along with NJCPA’s Roseland offices. Donation sites included: Alloy Silverstein, Cherry Hill; PKF O’Connor Davies, Cranford; WilkinGuttenplan, East Brunswick; Friedman LLP, East Hanover; Mazars USA LLP, Edison; Prager Metis, Hackensack; Gold Gerstein Group LLC, Moorestown; Capaldi Reynolds & Pelosi CPAs, P.A., Northfield; The Green Group, Woodbridge; Bowman & Company, Woodbury.
As part of the food drive, the Emerging Leaders Council hosted its annual Volunteer Night at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in Hillside on Nov. 12 with 25 member volunteers on hand to assist with food sorting. The FoodBank warehouses and supplies food and grocery products to local charities throughout New Jersey.
“I am always amazed at the outstanding way in which our members donate their time and show support for the food drive every year. Our Emerging Leaders Council has taken the reins on this initiative for the past 10 years, which is a great accomplishment,” said Ralph Albert Thomas, CPA (DC), CGMA, CEO and executive director at the NJCPA.
