Piscataway NJ, Update regarding the nearly 4-foot-long alligator originally spotted in Ambrose Brook in Middlesex Borough and later found on a roadway in Piscataway:

NJDEP Fish & Wildlife retrieved the alligator Thursday night, September 7, 2023, after it was captured by officers from the Piscataway Police Department. The animal appeared to be in good health with no apparent injuries and was transported to the Cape May Zoo where it will stay temporarily before being transported to a sanctuary in Florida.
NJDEP Fish & Wildlife Conservation Police Officers continue to review this incident. Possession of any Potentially Dangerous Species listed in NJ Fish & Wildlife’s regulations, including alligators and crocodiles is against the law in New Jersey. Sometimes, however, these animals are purchased out of state and brought into New Jersey illegally. The owners often release them in local water bodies when they find they can no longer care for the animal.
