Ridgewood NJ, Following the announcement of a primary challenge to Congressman Josh Gottheimer in NJ CD-5, NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt made it clear that Gottheimer couldn’t weasel his way to victory by flipping parties in the right leaning district.
“Josh Gottheimer might be in a place where he needs friends, but he won’t find them in the Republican Party in CD-5,” said Steinhardt. “As a County Chairman in his district, I can tell you that the liberal Representative isn’t welcome on a Republican ballot. He helped Nancy Pelosi circumvent generations of House rules to call President Trump a racist, and he has endorsed one of the most liberal presidential candidates in the 2020 race, Cory Booker. Congressman Gottheimer is either going to lose in this Democratic primary or the general election to a Republican Challenger.”
Meanwhile Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) said Monday he was targeted by a political smear campaign in which an unknown individual distributed a fake resignation letter to local officials and the press.
Glen Rock Councilmember Arati Kreibich announced on Monday that she is challenging incumbent Josh Gottheimer for the Democratic Party nomination in New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District.
