MAHWAH NJ, The Civil Air Patrol, the Change of Command ceremony is a time-honored tradition signifying the transition of leadership at all echelons of command. The Walter M. Schirra Squadron, based in Mahwah, New Jersey will be conducting it’s Change of Command ceremony on June 17th at 7:30 PM, presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Harvey Gonzalez, New Jersey Wing, Group 221 Commander.
After a successful term as Squadron Commander, First Lieutenant Scott Cohen passes the authority for the Squadron to First Lieutenant Rik Jones at the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute located at 281 Campgaw Road, Mahwah, NJ.
First Lieutenant Jones of Ridgewood, New Jersey currently serves as the Squadron Deputy Commander for Cadets and Public Affairs Officer. He served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps and was himself a Cadet in the Civil Air Patrol. He is also a Director of Information Technology with KPMG LLP.
First Lieutenant Jones’ focus for the next four years will be on Cadet Leadership, Recruiting & Retention and increased visibility within our local communities in support of the overall mission of the NJ Wing and the Civil Air Patrol.
