Ridgewood’s public works department has recently taken two measures to increase sidewalk safety in the village.
A new sidewalk on Northern Parkway is being constructed after years of advocacy by several residents aiming to increase safety on the grassy strip beside Graydon Pool and Maple Park Turf Field.
Additionally, 160 residents received notices this summer requiring them, within 45 days, to replace sidewalks that have been deemed incompliant with Americans with Disabilities Act standards, according to the Department of Public Works (DPW).
The project on Northern Parkway should be completed within the next couple weeks, depending on weather, said Village Engineer Chris Rutishauser.
