Old Tappan NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of DARDAN BILALI (DOB: 03/22/1974; married; self-employed) of 387 Old Tappan Road, Old Tappan, NJ on charges of Aggravated Assault and Criminal Mischief. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Old Tappan Police Department under the direction of Chief Joseph Tracy.
On July 23, 2020, a 71-year-old Old Tappan resident was driving eastbound on Old Tappan Road when his vehicle was struck with gunfire. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad responded to the area of 387 Old Tappan Road to assist the Old Tappan Police Department with the investigation.
An investigation revealed that DARDAN BILALI had discharged a shotgun striking the victim’s vehicle while he was driving on Old Tappan Road. The discharge appears to be unintentional and no injuries were sustained by the passing motorist.
On July 23, 2020, BILALI was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4), a 4th degree crime; and one count of Criminal Mischief, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:17-3a(1), a 4th degree crime. BILALI was issued a summons and is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on August 12, 2020.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Old Tappan Police Department, the River Vale Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
