Open Public Records Request Raises Concerns over “feasibility studies” in Connection Police Firearms Range

Ridgewood NJ, according to Ridgewood resident Boyd Loving ,”a review of invoices for the preparation of “feasibility studies” in connection with the design and construction of a proposed indoor police firearms qualification/training facility obtained via an Open Public Records Request raise a couple of concerns –

1) There is no notation that any of the invoices associated with this project were paid. All invoices from this company about other matters (Elks Club/Ridgewood Water project) are affixed with a handwritten notation of date paid and check #. This invoice is dated 03/02/2020, a full ten (10) months ago.
2) I recall the amount of $5k additional (above and beyond the amount approved by Village Council Resolution #19-319) being requested during the 12/02/2020 Village Council Work Session. This invoice indicates that the amount was actually $3K. The plot thickens.”

  1. Someone’s playing games again.

  2. Go get them Boyd. Keep on digging you are going to find more shit on them. You would make a good detective.

  3. Why would Ridgewood Water move in to the old Elks building? No parking for their trucks and why do they need Class A space in the CBD? There is plenty of much, much cheaper B and C class space available in Bergen County.

Just so the police department can get more space in Village Hall? And take the Elks building off Village tax rolls?

This smells bad. Who is driving this outright waste of taxpayer funds? And why?

  4. Why do we need our own police firing range? Have our officers been shooting people?

The only time I recall a service weapon being discharged in the Village was when an off duty officer got drunk and belligerent in a bar and was subsequently fired after discharging his weapon.

I thought the police firing range was a shared service with surrounding communities in Paramus and the Bergen County sheriff? More boondoggles and trinkets for the Mayor’s favoured police department??

  5. Heres a thought.. put out a RFP and allow a PRIVATE entity to lease the land and build a range. They can operate a commercial enterprise and make a profit.
The range serves the community so we don’t have to drive far away to a range.
Part of the lease requires free use by RPD.
sounds like a win win situation.
I’m sure the operators of the other ranges in the area would be willing to lease with their expertise and experience and it wont cost taxpayers a dime. Properly structured a 20 year lease would be profitable, unlike other boondocles like the garage

  6. Why don’t we build a Police Firing Range with indoor Pickleball Courts and the top floor could be for Ridgewood Water World Headquarters. Let’s get back to the Leaf Pickup and the Parking Garage.

  7. Bungee-jumping class is being considered at the Hudson St Parking Garage. Support bungee-jumping at the next Village Council meeting. Just phone it in.
