Our Lady of Mount Carmel offers help to those devastated by “Sandy ” in Neptune, NJ

Now, as most of Ridgewood’s power has returned and we try to resume our normal routines, I want you to consider offering some help to those in the Southern part of our State.

I received word from my cousin who lives in Neptune, NJ. (Neptune is a year-round community near Asbury Park.) Major parts of Neptune have been devastated by SANDY, many losing their entire homes.

A warehouse in Neptune has also become a major drop off center for non-perishable food. From here it is boxed and sent to other towns further south where things are even worse.

Many of the citizens of Neptune have been volunteering in this distribution center wanting to help those farther south who are in greater need. They are working to the point of exhaustion.

Food shipments are arriving faster than can be sorted.

More than anything, VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for accepting, sorting and boxing donations for shipment to other towns.

TOMORROW, Saturday, November 10th from 7am to 3pm they are asking anyone who is able, to come to the warehouse to sort food so that it can be shipped where needed.

I would like to encourage your family to consider volunteering for a few hours tomorrow. Consider giving up your planned and doing something spontaneous to help those in need.

Where: 1924 Heck Ave., Neptune, NJ

Things to Bring With You if Possible:
– Packaging Tape and/or tape guns
– Dollies, carts or hand trucks

– More food – The warehouse needs to be emptied before
further donations can be accepted.
