At approximately 5:00 PM, ERFD was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Rose Street with the initial possibility of residents being trapped inside. Fortunately, upon arrival, crews confirmed the best possible news: all occupants had safely evacuated the building before the department’s arrival.

Commuters traveling through Hawthorne, NJ woke up to severe delays on Saturday, 11/01/2025, following a major single-vehicle crash on Route 208 Northbound. At approximately 9:00 AM, a BMW SUV reportedly slammed head-on into a utility pole just south of the Goffle Road exit, bringing the busy highway to a standstill.

The force of the collision brought down the pole and wires, leading to the immediate closure of Route 208 Northbound for an extended period. As of 10:11 AM, the right lane and shoulder near Goffle Road remained closed, causing traffic backups stretching all the way into Glen Rock.
