Paramus NJ, a devastating house fire broke out early Monday morning on Harrison Street in Paramus, leaving a family of five displaced and a home completely destroyed, officials confirmed.
Fire Breaks Out Overnight
π¨ Time: Shortly after 2 a.m. on Monday
π Location: A single-family home on Harrison Street, Paramus
π₯ Cause: Under investigation by the Paramus Fire Prevention Bureau
According to Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti, flames were first spotted in the garage, with thick black smoke billowing from the home. A 2008 Infiniti SUV parked in the driveway was fully engulfed in flames, while two Tesla vehicles remained unaffected.
Family Escapes Just in Time
The homeowner, his wife, and their three children were asleep when the smell of smoke woke him. Upon investigating, he discovered heavy smoke seeping from the garage door. Upon opening it, he saw the garage fully engulfed in flames and quickly evacuated his family to safety.
Firefighters Battle Blaze for Over an Hour
π₯ Firefighters from Paramus Fire Company 2, along with mutual aid crews from Rochelle Park, Oradell, and Maywood, fought the flames for over an hour.
π₯ The fire spread to the second floor before crews managed to bring it under control by 3:30 a.m.
Injuries & Investigation
π¨βπ One firefighter, 34, sustained a wrist injury and was taken to The Valley Hospital for treatment before being released Monday morning.
π The Paramus Fire Prevention Bureau remains at the scene to assess damage and determine the cause of the fire.
