Paramus NJ, Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza addressed traffic congestion on Spring Valley Road and Forest Avenue.
Roadway improvements at the busy intersection of Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road in Paramus, aimed at enhancing safety for motorists and students walking to nearby schools, are set to take months to complete. The project, which began a week ago, has no definitive end date but is expected to last a few months. Mayor Chris DiPiazza noted that work commenced after the school year ended to minimize disruption for students. The improvements include widening the roadways, rehabilitating existing sidewalks, installing ADA-compliant curb ramps, adding additional sidewalks, and implementing left turn lanes and signals. Additionally, the two roads will be milled and paved, new crosswalks will be restriped, and upgraded traffic signals with countdown signs and pedestrian push buttons will be installed.
In a Facebook post DiPiazza said, “I understand (and experience daily) the new traffic congestion on Spring Valley (Road ) and Forest (Avenue). This is a result of my administration’s commitment to improve our major intersections in town. This project will improve: turn signals, lane addition, shoulder area, pedestrian safety, crosswalks for children who don’t get buses to East Brook (Middle School) or (Paramus ) High School. This project will go on for a few months (planned so kids are out of school). Tax dollars at work to improve Paramus’ infrastructure”
