I wish people would take photos of parking spaces all over town on different days of the week, ordinary and holiday, and at different times to show in aggregate that parking IS AVAILABLE. A large number of photos documented at various times and days of the week would tell the story. Walking a couple of blocks is good for your health! And unless you’re going to a Hudson St. or S. Broad Street venue, you’ll walk a couple of blocks (or much more) from the garage anyway. Please VOTE NO on June 21 and get an absentee ballot if you can’t.
send them in : onlyonesmallvoice@gmail.com do not forget date, time
a little humor
You should be taking pictures of the store owners parking in front of their stores.
Right or wrong, there is the perception among many people that its tough to find parking in the Ridgewood CBD. The times you drive into town and can’t find parking easily are the ones that stick in most peoples minds. This is especially true for people driving in from neighboring towns to go out to dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. Posting photos showing empty spaces won’t change the perception that its hard to find spots downtown.
And regarding the store owners (who are also taxpayers by the way) everyones got to park somewhere, right?
yes then they have to decide do they want customers or not ?
6 AM on a Tuesday?
Any store owner stupid enough to park in spots needed by customers shouldn’t be in business.
How do I know the spots are needed by customers? Because the store owners have been crying for more parking. They even want the taxpayers to finance a parking deck.
You people are all getting a little ridiculous with this. Do you really expect there to be no parking spots at 6AM? Is this proving some kind of point – too much time on your hands
7.09. Good point..some store owners parking in front of their businesses want us the hook for an 11 M white elephant Garage 7 blocks away mainly for peak weekend and restaurant evening time loading.while gobbling up
Valet loading zones from 5 pm.
Most people are lazy and don’t want to have to walk two blocks. this includes the employees and customers. Drive around town at 9 and 10 am and see how many spots are already filled. You think they are all customers??
Like Rurick said a few weeks back, you can formaldehyde the imaginary vision of a bucolic Ridgewood in your minds, stop any and all progress and get then what you deserve…A CBD increasingly in decline with more and more eyesores popping up like the empty used car dealerships, the town garage, etc… Ridgewood ain’t what it used to be and burring your heads in the sand because your taxes might go up $50 or $100 a year is shortsighted IMO. Just because you personally won’t use the garage doesn’t mean that many other won’t.
We could use a small parking deck for commuters during the work week and for diners on Friday and Saturday nights. There is plenty of on street parking during the work week. For credibility’s sake we should be posting pictures of open parking spots at noon on Wednesday, 3:00 pm on Tuesday, etc. I tend to agree with 8:53 that posting a block’s worth of open parking spots at 6:00 am doesn’t really prove any point one way or another. That all said, the outgoing Council majority should step aside and let the new Council reach some sort of compromise on the garage size and design. If they don’t then vote NO on June 21.
6am really? This is comical.
6am on. a. Tuesday. What’s your point?
The town garage should be a Stewarts.
Perhaps to open up an honest discussion showing all times including earlier postings at noon. ..mid morning etc. Some might see a red herring
But these lots are used at all hours..a sign of a reasonably vibrat community..some posters avoiding any discussion on an 11 M dollar
Mistake for restaurants peak hours business asking taxoayers to bear the complete risk and costs as well as multi family developers licking their chops at the thought of a transit village like Morristown Highlands developments as well as Clifton and others massive town busters.Current Mayor and VC TRIED TO BOND WITH THE COUNTY Loosing control of our growth and limitations and planning ordinances.
May e businesses can’t make it because the rent is too damn high.
9:46 you lost all credibility when you wrote “Like Rurik said…..”
Loving this picture! The next picture you post should be at 3:00AM on a Tuesday. That will really spin up the pro-Garage Mahal crowd!
Let’s assume that R. Halaby was a fever dream from which we collectively awoke on May 11.
I parked on Broad right across from my intended destination (Dunkin Donuts) at 2pm this afternoon. About 5 or 6 choice spots available for me to choose from.

“credibility” in the Ridgewood Blog echo chamber… good one!
Let’s go for a weekday after 3 PM and a Friday or Saturday after 6 PM.
well the street is nice and clean,
1.49 dont give away the parking violatons quiet hour of power when the grinding wheels are out sharpening those parking officers sharp pencils. Like stealth bombers they cut up most of the towns good will. Its all about the fine monies and little about the impression we chisel into our valued shoppers from other towns basically telling them to get lost
So we need garage only for Friday and Saturday nights, and those are the times when Mayor Arinsohn wants to make it ‘free of cost’.
6:32- EXACTLY
What’s missing from the entire narrative is the increased meter fees that will be paid all week long to fund a parking garage for restaurants on Friday and Saturday nights.
6.32 nails it..Epic Fail. Screw job on Taxpayers and shoppers during the week..for what the Restaurants clients free parking..give us a break..New administration take note..this Ass backwards approach need to be fixed no later than day one to day fourty five.Vote NO JUNE 21 against the oversized Garage.then head to the Beach..we will all vacation more easily.
Rat- Could not agree with you more.
Sorry. Above meant for RT.
Thanks Bill, but don’t call me rat. LOL
Parked across from Mt. Carmel at 6:30 pm last night.
Had to walk one block.
