THE RIDGEWOOD NEWS

As the Village Council continues fishing for a parking garage, a big catch – FISH – has entered the discussion on Ridgewood’s parking needs.

FISH, a high-end eatery from Asbury Park, is opening a second location in Ridgewood’s long-empty Bank of America building, and bringing with it as many as 225 new diners.

“They’d like to open somewhere between December and February,” said the building’s landlord John Saraceno, who said he was contacted by FISH six months ago. “They’re a great use for the village.”

The new restaurant, expected to attract many new diners, and cars, is also adding even more urgency to the village’s ongoing search for better parking options in the Central Business District (CBD), a search being done partly with awareness that more popular chains and anchor stores could help revitalize Ridgewood’s downtown but necessitate more parking options.

But luckily, FISH’s plan to valet park its cars will provide some relief.

  1. I bet they were told that parking is not going to be a problem because the Council is going to build a parking garage right behind their restaurant. Paulie the Greek is give odd on that.

  2. Just a coincidence.

  3. Garage on Hudson street sounds like a plan so why not go with it.

  4. Yes #1, a local restaurant owner is probably encouraging a 225 seat new restaurant to open across the street from him….that makes a lot of sense.

  5. Sounds like a possibility … perhaps, if the design is OK, and details can be worked out.

That rear lot is perfect with the bus connections right there for Village travelers. Perhaps, their wives will pick them up and they will have dinner down town.

Sounds good to me, how about you ?

  6. Perhaps I’ll finally see that small hotel facility on the buildings next door (owned by another real estate investor.

Visiting investors come to Ridgewood often to check out the town. And it would be better if their hotel room was right here, don’t you think?

  7. PS: By the way who has that Village Liquor License they are holding?

Put those thinking caps on… lot of projects worth checking into.

  8. JJJ Why don’t you pay for it. Yes #4 overflow or someone looking for a lower price meal will go to Paulie the Greeks place. Do you real think its going to be that crowed every night? Isn’t that the plan Paulie.

  9. That what wrong with people like you Dom. A hotel in Ridgewood. People like you think Ridgewood is the center of the Universe. Just like all those Super Bowel people that came to Ridgewood. Remember the grandiose plans for that . Ice Rink in the park. When the hotel doesn’t work after a few years it will become one of the SSI housing projects.

  10. We should have done this or that, we should have done something else.

    It’s your fault, it’s my fault, it’s JJ’s fault………. Let’s keep blaming somebody else.

Stop wasting the time God gave you. The years will finally be gone.

What were your good deeds of the day ?

  11. What were your Dom?

  12. #9. I agree. There are people who think that Ridgewood is the envy of the world.

I still have to tell people that I live near Paramus.

That superbowl plan was a nonstarter. Fans do not travel across the country to spend big bucks in Ridgewood. Manhattan was the center for Superbowl fun. We cannot compete.

  13. And why should we compete just to make a name for some politicians.

  14. Must say I like “Super Bowel” in #10.

I’d forgotten about that hype. Didn’t the mayor pontificate about the construction of an ice skating rink at Van Neste Park and other such bullshit?

  16. The building would make a beautiful restaurant.

  17. Thats a lot of fish dinner to make that rent and overhead. When they see the price they will be running to Paulie the Greek place
