Elmwood Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MICHAEL STUART (DOB: 7/04/1973; single; employed as a landscaper) of Paterson, NJ on armed robbery and weapon charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love, the Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti, and the Elmwood Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Foligno.
During a two-month-long investigation by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigation Squad, MICHAEL STUART was identified as a suspect in an investigation involving multiple armed robberies throughout Northern New Jersey in April and May of 2022.
On Thursday, June 16, 2022, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office arrested STUART without incident outside a residence in Paterson, NJ.
MICHAEL STUART was charged with the following offenses: two counts of first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1 (a) (1); two counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5 (b); two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C: 39-4 (a); second-degree certain person not to possess a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C: 39-7 (b); two counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C: 12-1b (4); and fourth-degree aggravated assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b (2).
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
