The accident, which occurred during the busy school run, required a high-stakes rescue operation and has sent shockwaves through the local community.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Hackensack Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision at the intersection of South Summit Avenue and West Pleasantview Avenue.

Pedestrian Safety Reminder

For Drivers:

  • Always double-check crosswalks, especially during school hours (7 a.m. – 9 a.m.).

  • Remember that school buses have larger blind spots than standard passenger vehicles.

For Pedestrians:

  • Even in a marked crosswalk, attempt to make eye contact with drivers before stepping in front of large vehicles.
