Philly Rideshare Driver Picked Up With 4,650 Bags of Heroin in Ridgefield Park

Ridgefield Park NJ,Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARVIN TAVERAS-TAVERAS (DOB: 9/30/1991; single; rideshare driver) of 2629 North 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA on a charge of possession with the intent to distribute heroin. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On June 16, 2022, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force revealed that MARVIN TAVERAS-TAVERAS was transporting bulk amounts of suspected narcotics through Bergen County. During this investigation, a search was conducted on the defendant’s vehicle in Ridgefield Park, NJ. The search revealed approximately 93 “bricks” or 4,650 bags of suspected heroin. TAVERAS-TAVERAS was arrested at the scene of the search.

MARVIN TAVERAS-TAVERAS was charged with second-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely heroin, in a quantity greater than ½ ounce but less than 5 ounces, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2). He was transported to the Bergen County Jail to await his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
