Planned garage a plus for Ridgewood

A big round of applause for Ridgewood Council members Gwenn Hauck and Albert Pucciarelli and Mayor Paul Aronsohn for successfully stewarding the parking garage project for downtown, culminating in voter approval earlier this month. Decades of no progress on this topic finally have been broken.

There are many positives to this project, with the most important being to strengthen our central business district by addressing the No. 1 challenge: parking. As the mayor recently pointed out, the “only real negative aspect was the disinformation campaign that sought to confuse and undermine the public conversation – a disinformation campaign represented in part by an anonymous mailer.”

The mayor noted that “no one was willing to take responsibility for the mailer, [but] the language was strikingly similar to that used by some of the parking deck’s most vocal detractors.”

The next challenge for the parking deck is to secure financing. In order to bond, four of five council members are needed to vote yes. Will those who did not support the project vote no? That would be in direct opposition to the overwhelming voter support for the project.

  1. Well don must have had a conservation with our Mayor. Hey Don if you write a letter to the Ridgewood News supporting the garage I will make sure that you and the RBA will get the full size baseball field at Schledar. You scratch my back and I will scratch your.

  2. Has he apologized to Councilmember Knudson yet?

  3. Will the rntire rbsa be writing letters? Hoping for favors with the Schindler developmrnt.

  4. When is Aronsohn going to leave town and free us from his predictable Strategies? Getting suckups to write letters to the editor is a favorite one. I never used to feel SUSPICIOUS about letters to the editor by fellow residents but the “who told you to write this and what to say?” factor is now high.

  5. Hey Mayor isn’t that the way they do it in Hudson County?

  6. Did the 3 Amigos ever find out who mailed out the above flier . Is there going to be a public flogging after the Christmas tree lighting? Will Pauly V have his Giro Cart at the flogging?

  7. Did the three amigos ever find out who tried to influence our election by contacting Sedon’s employer? First things first.

  8. Yes your right 4:00 and while they are in the investigative mood may they can tell us who illegally dome tons of concrete at the Lakeview leaf site. I would suspect its one of Roberta’s in crowed . Let us not forget the macadam from S. Irving St repaving that was also dumped at the same site. How much did it cause the taxpayer to remove it from that site after the DEP told then they could not do it.

  9. To the writer: I don’t know how long you have lived here, but I’m coming up on 33yrs. During the “decades” you refer to quite a few things have changed in the CBD and that is why this ridiculous “answer” to the parking problem was never resolved by erecting a 300 plus garage. The truth is that even in the best of times, with less malls, no internet, lower rents, less completion from neighboring towns, a booming economy, etc., this was not needed. So why the hell would it be needed now ?

  10. Stop posting negatively about the garage, The FAC has done the research and they have recommended the construction of the largest garage. The Council at least 4 out of the 5 are for a garage. The Chamber of Commerce has done their studies and they have recommended it. What more do you posters need. When it comes to the high density housing again the Planning Board has recommended the high density. The Historical Society and The Chamber of Commerce all have endorsed the Planning Board Plan. The Council seems to be leaning towards passing the Ordinance. These people have study the information and have made an intelligent decision to revitalize the town. We voted them overwhelming majority. There was a reason for that .

  11. Hey 636. We don’t want things become a Montclair

  12. Delzio? Isn’t he the same guy who sent a totally eroneous letter to The Ridgewood News, the one that charged Councilwoman Knudsen with numerous sins? The same letter that required a HUGE correction be published the following week when it was revealed that all of Mr. Delzio’s charges were made up? So after all of this, Mr. Delzio actually expects anyone to believe anything he has to say, ever again? If you opposed the parking garage previously, this is your confirmation that you’re right – Anything that Delzio supports you should oppose.

  13. Does anyone know where I can get the districts that voted yes or no on the garage. Ive looked on line but can’t fine it. Please don’t tell me to opra it.

  14. Don Delzio – the FACT man. He is a complete and total idiot. Nothing he says is believed by anyone. Have you ever heard him speak at a meeting? He is nasty, incorrect, and downright ridiculous. Yes, this is a great letter in support of the garage.

  15. Oh my gosh, this is rich. Don Delzio, spokesman extraordinaire for the RBSA posting in favor of the garage. yeah, this is real credible.

  16. HEY DELZIO YOU IDIOT: Your letter is filled with inaccuracies, yet again. If you knew how to read and comprehend, you would know that someone did claim credit for the mailing you referred to as being annonymous. Twice this preson took credit. But you missed it because you can’t read. Too bad Delzio. The Ridgewood Blog posted the responsible person’s name twice, but you missed it both times. What a moron you are.

  17. 7:13, OPRA is probably your only recourse, but the form is short and simple. You just have to phrase your request very specifically and clearly.

  18. 7:13 I bet it’s easier than you think: All districts likely voted yes. That’s what happens when something gets a landslide 2 votes of support for every 1 vote against.

  19. If you look up bumbling idiot in the dictionary there is a photo of Don the Con.

  20. This just in from TIme: “Shoppers this year still wanted to get a head start on their holiday gift list on Black Friday — but overall were less willing to brave the crowds.

Sales on Thanksgiving and Black Friday both fell in stores this year, with a growing amount of people pursuing their discounts online instead.”

Sadly Main Street is dying or dead. This garage is already obsolete and it hasn’t even been built.
