Play at Ridgewood’s Habernickel Park at your own risk – Lightning detection system is out of service

Lightning Detection
the staff of The Ridgewood Blog
Ridgewood NJ, neighbors of the Irene Habernickel Family Park on Hillcrest Road in Ridgewood have informed The Ridgewood Blog that the park’s lightning detection system is currently not functional. It is believed the system stopped working when the barn was recently demolished.

Until the system is put back into service, park users are encouraged to make note of predicted thunderstorms before visiting the park, and to use caution if weather conditions suddenly change.
Inquires as to when the system would be repaired, made to Village officials by residents, have thus far gone without the question at hand being answered.

  3. The same way the VOR cameras were out of service, in the count room, during the years long quarter heist (850k).

  4. “system stopped working when the barn was recently demolished” another display of our Village incompetence.

  5. So much for transparency. We have a better chance of getting struck by lighting-literally.

    1. And even more likely in the council chambers…………………..

  6. How did I survive all those years playing ball without a lightning detection system?

  7. Failure to properly maintain the system could subject taxpayers to a huge lawsuit. Get it fixed now!

  8. One of the town’s big boondoggles. Those systems are ridiculous and a public nuisance.

  9. Slow news day to throw shade
