Police ID Man who drowned in Mahwah’s Darlington Lake

Mahwah NJ, a 21-year-old Maywood man drowned in Darlington Lake in Mahwah on Thursday, according to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Keisha McLean, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office the lake in Darlington County Park is closed to swimmers on weekdays this time of year.

McLean added the victim, Kevin Acevedo, was swimming in the lake with a 20-year-old from Weehawken when a witness noticed one of the men struggling and called 911.

Rescuers from the Bergen County SCUBA Task Force, along with sheriff’s officers, the county prosecutor’s office and Mahwah police pulled the two men from the lake, but Acevedo was later pronounced dead at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.

  2. Who cares what town it was from. Did you put up cameras, all public swimming pools ponds lakes that people swimming they should be cameras.
