Ridgewood NJ, great news for residents of Ridgewood, Midland Park, and Wyckoff! Ridgewood Water has successfully completed a critical infrastructure upgrade designed to eliminate those frustrating low water pressure situations.

According to Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark, the utility has installed a powerful new pump along West Glen Avenue, drastically enhancing water distribution across the three communities. This vital project is a direct response to pressure issues experienced as recently as September 2024.

Solving the Low-Pressure Problem

Water pressure fluctuations can be a major headache for homeowners and businesses, impacting everything from showering to fire safety. Ridgewood Water has made a significant investment to prevent these issues from recurring.

Keith Kazmark, Ridgewood Village Manager: “This past week, Ridgewood Water installed the new pump along West Glen Avenue to help with distribution in Ridgewood, Midland Park, and Wyckoff. This improvement will address low pressure situations like we saw in September of 2024. Our team at Ridgewood Water is committed to infrastructure upgrades like this to ensure efficient delivery of water.”

The strategic installation of this new pump is expected to create a much more stable and robust water distribution network for thousands of North Jersey customers.

The Backbone: A Massive Concrete Vault

This recent pump installation is the culmination of months of intense work and planning. Earlier this year, the Ridgewood Water team undertook a substantial operation to prepare the foundation for the new system.

  • Overnight Operation: In June of this year, Ridgewood Water crews worked through the night to ensure minimal disruption to traffic and residents.

  • Massive Structure: The crews prepared for the installation of a massive, 26,400-pound prefabricated concrete vault.

  • Booster Pumps: This heavy-duty structure was necessary to house the powerful booster pumps that now significantly enhance water pressure and flow capacity in previously affected areas.

The commitment to executing this complex project, including the demanding overnight work, underscores Ridgewood Water’s focus on long-term infrastructure health and reliable service delivery.

Why Infrastructure Upgrades Matter

For utility customers, infrastructure upgrades might seem invisible, but they are crucial for everyday life and community safety:

  1. Consistent Supply: Ensuring reliable water delivery, especially during peak usage times.

  2. Fire Safety: Adequate water pressure is vital for fire hydrants and emergency response.

  3. Future-Proofing: Preparing the system to handle population growth and increasing demand.

This latest project is a major win for the residents of the tri-municipality area, promising a reliable and high-pressure water supply moving forward.

  1. I love these KK press releases, nothing but positivity, just like a politician.

  2. Fact check for Friday: we still have poisoned water.

Any updates on that pesky little item?

  3. Sell that utility, and get OUT of the water business. Why are we in the water business? Why not get into electricity generation? It’s EXPENSIVE, unnecessary, and we still can’t water our lawns.
