Ridgewood NJ, according to Village Mayor Paul Vagianos the Village has a busy summer and fall planned paving roads, building sidewalks and getting a list of capital construction projects going.
Ridgewood NJ, with one failed initiative after another , the Village of Ridgewood Council puts pedestrian safety back on the front burner . Thanks to Councilwoman Lorraine Reynolds who championed the transfer of $500,000 designated for repairs to the village’s historic Zabriskie-Schedler house toward an estimated $1 million sidewalk project , known as the West Glen Avenue sidewalk installation safety initiative at the budget meeting in May, Reynolds argued that the historic home repairs would be stalled by lawsuits and the money should be put to more immediate use on “safety projects.”
Ridgewood NJ, Sunday (06/25) afternoon’s thunderstorm reeked havoc of sorts in Ridgewood when two (2) primary electric wires fell to the ground and caught fire on West Glen Avenue near Oak Street. One or both of the smoldering wires also fell onto active NJ Transit railroad tracks, reportedly damaging some critical signaling equipment, which in turn caused train cancellations and extensive delays on NJ Transit’s Bergen & Main Lines. Local power outages were also reported; most notably traffic control devices at several major intersections in Ridgewood were darkened until portable generators were put into place at each of them. The good news was that police received no reports of storm related injuries or significant property damage. West Glen Avenue was closed between North Maple Avenue and Upper Boulevard for an extended period to facilitate utility company repairs.
Ridgewood NJ, it appears high winds were the culprit , according to the Ridgewood Police Department, West Glen Avenue was closed between Heights and Hillcrest due to a utility emergency which caused power outages in the area. PSE&G was on scene attempting to restore power.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood residents got their first look the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Design Assistance Program on August 12th .Lets hope these improvements are more soundly implemented than the “suicide bike lane” and traffic easing disasters of the past witch created dangerous congestion for Ridge school and Ridgewood School students .
The “suicide bike lane” and traffic easing disasters were driven by grant money with little thought to their practical application ,in the real word.
Ridgewood NJ, Village Engineer Christopher Rutishauser provided an update of the West Glen Avenue sidewalk installation safety initiative to Village Council members during their scheduled Wednesday evening Work Session meeting.
