MIDLAND PARK – A 48-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her estranged boyfriend when she pulled into her driveway on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli identified the woman as Suzanne Bardzell, who owns the home, a Cape Cod-style house in the 700 block of Godwin Avenue.
Molinelli said the attacker, identified as Arthur J. Lomando of Centerreach, N.Y., escaped to New York City, where he threw himself in front of a subway train at Amsterdam and St. Nicholas avenues. Lomando was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was treated for head and leg injuries, the prosecutor said.
Lomando is a former employee of the New York City Police Department who had been “separated” from the department for “quite a few” years for “physical and/or mental reasons,” Molinelli said.
Molinelli said Lomando left the machete-like knife that was used in the attack at the scene of the killing.
When police arrived at the scene, Bardzell was already dead inside the vehicle, and the engine was still running, Molinelli said
They had this guy 2 weeks ago after a complaint was lodged. Looks like law enforcement, the County Prosecutor and The Judiciary have some questions to answer….and watching Molinelli try and throw some blame back on the victim during his press conference was disgusting.
Complete failure on the prosecutor, Midland Park PD and the Judge who let this scumbag walk on the 10Th when all involved were chasing his ass up and down the Susquehanna tracks when he VIOLATED the restraining order placed against him in the first place. and he got away! Fellow cops working the “blue line” and letting a former walk? Now we have 2 teenagers who don’t have a mother anymore. WHY? Whats going on here?
now I read in the papers today that one day after a crazy cop MURDERED one of my neighbors that the Boro of Midland Park is re-hiring a crazy cop we shit canned a year ago for drunkeness and unprofessional behavior while on the job, giving him his GUN BACK and putting him on patrol, paying his legal fees, reinstating his pension and their going to pay him 119 K a year??? Really? The residents of Midland Park are demanding answers and were going to get them. its time for ACCOUNTABILITY.
