Ridgewood NJ, congratulations to Susan and Mike on the big win . The Village Council Reorganization Meeting, was held today Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Noon in the Sydney V. Stoldt, Jr. Court Room. Susan Knudsen and Michael Sedon will be sworn . A special congratulations to Ramon Hache who was sworn in as the new Mayor of Ridgewood and Susan Knudsen who was sworn in as the Deputy Mayor .

In attendance was Father Ron , Congressmen Josh Gottheimer , Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco, III , Bergen County Freeholder Tracy Zur and Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo .

The Village Council is the governing body of the Village of Ridgewood. There are five Council members who are elected at large, on a non-partisan basis. The Municipal Election for Village Council takes place on the second Tuesday in May, in even numbered years. The term of a Council member is four years. The Mayor is chosen by the Village Council every two years, after a Municipal Election. The Reorganization meeting, which is when the new Council members take office is held on July 1st.

Village Council members serve part-time, and most have full-time jobs. They appoint a Village Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the Village, to handle personnel, citizen inquiries and complaints, and to handle the administrative duties of the Village.

The Village Council passes local laws, makes appointments to various Boards and Committees, and awards various contracts for purchases of goods and services used by the Village.

They also review, amend, and adopt the annual budget for the Village prepared by the Village Manager and Chief Financial Officer.

  1. In attendance was Congressmen Josh Gottheimer , Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco, III and Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo . Well well thats interesting.

  2. Thank you to the Blog for such speedy reporting! I am so proud of our Council. They have weathered much and came out on top. Jeff was missing and I think that was a good thing. There was positivity in the room and genuine good will.

  3. The Blue Wave. So much for non partisan Ridgewood. And they said this is a stepping stone for Ramon. Were we all fooled?

  4. 12:45pm, as it turns out, Mr. Hache shares their political affiliation. He is also well known to be a devout Catholic. Rara avis?

  5. He also, loves Ridgewood! You can’t be tall, dark and handsome and also well spoken and not have the politicians notice you.

  6. Devout Catholic? He’s been married three times. But then again wasn’t Teddy Kennedy too.

  7. Why not Sedon…?

  8. 4:11 “You can’t be tall, dark and handsome and also well spoken and not have the politicians notice you.:Like Josh Gottheime

  9. Congratulation to the NEW 3 AMIGOS

  10. Congratulations Ramon – we are lucky to have you. Best of luck.

  11. Thats great 4:45 but I guess people turn a blind eye when tall, dark and handsome. Maybe 4:11 should go to Father Rom to get Ramon nominated for sainthood.

  12. This id the best :There are five Council members who are elected at large, on a non-partisan basis” To hear then talk today it seems that there are only 3 Council people.

  13. Jeff is a non presence since his candidates lost. He actually believed he would be Mayor. Bernie served once before and ran for Freeholder. She is serving the village but a little less actively.

  14. I sat in the audience today. It was painful to watch them shit all over Bernie. They did the same thing the other three did to Susan and Mike. Shame on them!

  15. 6:11 “Bernie served once before and ran for Freeholder.” So what . “She is serving the village but a little less actively.” Did they mention her name at the Re-org?

    1. yes they did she was an enthusiastic participant , but she has a very busy schedule

  16. Did the three council people say her name or was she thanked from the audiences James?

  17. Bernie looked like she was sucking a lemon the entire time. Bernie has been a NON participant these past two years. What a total nothing she has been. She NEVER speaks up when, for example, Rurik goes on his rants. She is useless. She got elected on the coattails of Jeff and Ramon two years ago. She didn’t even really contribute money to the campaign. Bernie got elected because she, with Jeff and Ramon, were better than the other three. Waste of a seat.

  18. 6:53 can you better explain “It was painful to watch them shit all over Bernie.”
That seems a little out of character for the group. She’s the classiest one on the council.

  19. Jeff was not there because he is Mr. Sour Grapes. Good riddance. Why don’t you just quit showing up for the next two years Jeff? Just a friendly suggestion from a citizen who cannot stand you.

  20. Pretty sad when the mayor doesn’t get reelected and demoted… Ouch

  21. He walked out of the water rate hearing and didn’t show for this. What a guy.

  22. Interesting that Ramon gets his real estate license and now he’s mayor. It may be interesting to see how this plays out…

  23. They did not shit all over Bernie, as someone indicated. What are you even talking about???

  24. Where was Jeff you ask? He was downstairs at the police department filing random criminal charges against various citizens for no particular reason.

  25. Here we go. The ex Mayors apologists are not content with attacking Jeff now it Walsh”s turn. I remember how Susanne would tell anyone that would listen how the 3 amigos didn’t mention her or Mikes name at their re-org. Susanne plays the victim very well. Its is just plane civil to mention other council persons name at a re org. Susanne’s apologists can make all the lame excuses they want none of them hold water.

  26. Why didn’t the good catholic boy thank her after all it was the christian thing to do?

  27. No one was demoted. Susan is dealing with family issues and was glad to step down. Mayors do not always repeat even when they are still on the council.

  28. Seriously, why not Sedon? What is the usual protocol for selecting the mayor?

  29. Usual protocol is that the highest and second-highest vote-getters from the just-prior election are made mayor and deputy-mayor. But the Aronsohn regime interrupted that pattern so things are somewhat up in the air right now.

  30. Rmaon Hache is a very nice man. Very friendly. But what he represents is American mediocrity. For example, he said the kids needed another playing field, so he headed or co headed a committee to develop Schedler.

Never mind that Ridgewood , the country, the world is crying for more undevloped land for our eco systeml, according all the major newspapers every foot of wild land counts. Even your yards.

Please Ridgewood, do not complain when starving people from rain forest lands chop down their trees and poach their animals for profit.
You, refuse to teach your children the importance of nature. So chop down every tree and build playing fields with Ramon as the coach.
We in Ridgewood do not set an example. That is why I send money to the Celery Farm , Fyke organization in Allendale, and would never give the time of day to any Ridgewood cause.

  31. ex-mayor will still run this town through her back channels.

  32. And looks like this is gonna be good. Set back and relax oh boy

  33. What the hell kind of backroom deals were cut to make this happen? A junior member of the council is now mayor. Well I guess the village will take mismanagement to a new all time high.

  34. The ex-mayor won’t serve as your punching bag, 8:57am. Get a new bag!

  35. “Here we go. Susanne’s apologists can make all the lame excuses they want none of them hold water.”

What a crock of crap. Susan is not posting anything here, I am pretty sure of that. And if someone likes Susan it does not necessarily follow that they must also dislike Bernie. If someone wants to criticize Bernie it is because she deserves criticism. She is useless on the dais. A wasted seat.

  36. 10:58 Your last paragraph just proved my point.

  37. 10:58 it’s a little early to be hitting the bottle, I am pretty sure of that.

  38. Boy oh boy the politics in Ridgewood. The pressures on upper management now. The stress is in village hall.

  39. Bernie must be scratching her head right about now wondering why people are bandying her name about so enthusiastically when all she did was attend a re-org meeting!

  40. We are not “ apologists” for the ex Mayor. We were regular meeting attendees during Aronshn’s reign of terror and saw what real incivility and disregard for OPMA and Robert’s Rules looks like. The Three Amigo’s disrespected everyone and Susan and Mike were and are like a breath of fresh air. Ramon and Bernie are cut from the same cloth. Jeff however should just resign. He has shown his true colors since day one of his term.

  41. Well 4:15 first it this “If someone wants to criticize Bernie it is because she deserves criticism. She is useless on the dais. A wasted seat.”
and now its this “Ramon and Bernie are cut from the same cloth. Jeff however should just resign. ” and back to this :”Jeff however should just resign. He has shown his true colors since day one of his term.” You are an Apologist.

  42. Looking to advance his political career. Assembly.

  43. Your right 8:51. Now that he Mayor lets see how many D’s show up to our 4th of July parade to court him.

  44. I hope the new mayor and council start paving roads in the CBD, and start reconstructing parking lots because they are crumbling beyond the regular repair. Thank you

  45. Ridgewood a “Village in Turmoil”. Where is Dom Nizza when we need him most?

  46. With Hache in the driving seat just watch how all these developments will gain steam starting with the garage. We now have a real estate broker in charge. Way to go Ridgewood. And it can’t go well when you watch Sedon be passed for a newbie. Doomed with the old regime, same with the new one. Nobody can stop the power of developers and political crooks.

    1. too late your buddy Aronsohn and the amigos made sure the housing projects in the CBD are well on their way

  47. How about starting off the new council with a clean slate? Try to view this as a fresh start and quit foul mouthing everyone. Bernie is not a figment of your imagination. I’m sure, like Mike, she has done a lot of work behind the scenes. She is usually in almost every picture when she is available. Let’s try for at least a week without any foul language. It is actually possible to complete a whole sentence without one swear word!

  48. Has anyone noticed Josh Gerrymander’s political sign at the Ridgewood Trestle? This is public land. Is it because Ridgewood is a Democrat town that no one gets off their exalted arse and takes it down?

  49. You’re weak James. You keep repeating same line “your amigos, your buddy”. Is that all you know from a foreign language? I am totally independent and speak my mind but I bet you have interests tied to council members because they need someone like you with some media platform to boost their image. By the way give this platform an update. It is super outdated.

  50. 6:00 PM – James does not discriminate. The current council members have all been eviscerated on this BLOG, no discrimination there. And they have all been praised, as well. James just posts what the readers write. He even posts what you write.
