Because most of us republicans are busy at work, earning a living, just waiting for the day when we hang the for sale sign out and declare residency in Florida.
Per my accountant, if I spend 181 or so days per year out of state, nj income & estate taxes won’t be picking my pocket.
As the owner of a business I will take the steps as necessary.

The unions own nj along with those in the inner cities living on “entitlements”, all who vote democratic.
Very soon I will join the large group of smart taxpayers who are tired of having our pockets picked, and vote with my feet.
I’m sure the democrats won’t miss me, but they WILL miss my income taxes estate taxes, and more importantly the sales taxes on my expenditures for the 6 months I’m dividing my time between fla and Maine. And the businesses that I spend money with in nj won’t get my spending as well.
Add it up for all of a us and it makes a difference.

The problem is you can’t explain things to stupid democrats. If it eats breaths or defecates they find a way to slap a tax on it.

  1. I plan to have residency in another state. 32 years in NJ, they took enough.

  2. The Ponzi scheme will collapse on itself as the number of retired public pensioners drawing lifetime benefits – including Platinum health coverage until 65 – swamps the number of active employees contributing to the pension system. Most NJ pension plans run out of money by 2027 according to current actual projections, but this will likely come sooner given recent poor performance vs. an assumed rate of return 7.95%, and the fact that the state plans use old data on life expectancy which understate the amount of money needed. The union lackeys in Trenton can’t raise enough taxes or divert enough of the state budget towards past promises to prevent this, and NJ already has the highest combined state & local taxes in the country..The rest of us who will leave NJ in the next few years won’t ever look back. Sayonara suckers, you can blame Florio and Whitman through Christie all you want, but money doesn’t grow on trees, and taxpayers have already paid their share – the highest tax burden of any Americans – for the past 25 years. Despite this, state and municipalities still – still – have run up $200 BILLION in unfunded benefits (past promises) for public sector workers, plus Transportation Trust Fund debt. Enough is enough – we’re taxed to death and benefits need to be diminished. Don’t believe anyone who says they’re getting screwed by the state on benefits – it’s pure BS because they all get their monthly pension checks and their medical bills are all paid for.

  3. To the author:

Did you ever wonder why you had to wait so long for that day when you finally get to declare residency in Florida? What is stopping you from doing it tomorrow?

I’ll tell you. The primary schools down there are atrocious. And because of that, the universities are second rate. And because of that, there are not a whole lot of companies in line to set up operations that require smart people working there. Which, my myopic friend, is why you, like me, have to slog it out in Jersey, where the per capita income is ranked 1st, 2nd or 3rd depending on the year, we have enormous industry and infrastructure, and a deep, rich culture.

It’s not perfect, and I don’t deny there are a lot of corrupt pieces of shit dipping into the tax rolls…but if you think Florida is any less corrupt, I have a ski lodge in the Everglades I’d like to sell you. Trust me, my parents have been there for years, and I grew up down there. Go on down…buy your little house in a gated community and forget the world down there in heaven’s lobby.

We will forget about you, too.

  4. Hey Anonymous November 10, 2015 at 1:35 pm,

Considering the fact thstvRidgewood residents just overwhelmingly, by over 2.5 to 1, approved spending money (15 Million dollars) on a stupid parking garage. They voluntarily voted to RAISE their property taxes, so I don’t want to hear anymore more complaining about how the property taxes are so high in Ridgewood anymore. You Mr complain all the time about public safety employees and retirrees and their benefits are one of a very few who are complaining! The residents have spoken and its time for you to shut the hell up!

  5. PI’m to 3:57, I am the original poster . Our family never attended public schools in nj so it’s a non-issue. My business is international in nature and not a dime in revenue has been generated in nj. I have owned a home in fla for many years and simply haven’t taken the proper steps to cross the t’s and dot the i’s to become a resident there. I’m here due to family and I actually like living here, but not enough to get my pocket picked by the Democrats anymore. What I won’t miss are arrogant smart ass comments like your last sentence from pushy abrasive phonies who have overpopulated this town.

  6. 4:23, you like your state & local taxes which don’t even cover the cost of all of these benefits promised? Every household in the state owes almost $60,000 today just to pay past promises and that number only gets bigger. Why doesn’t that trouble you in any way? You think my state & local taxes have been reduced by $60,000 over the last 20 years? That’s BS and you know it. Should we just have a referendum to have a one-time $60,000 tax assessment on all NJ households to pay the bills, but not ask any questions? Are you volunteering to pay your share regardless? How would that benefit you?

  7. The local tax and benefits issues are legit and BIG but a lot has to do with decisions by the voters themselves(or ourselves). Home rule has a HUGE cost when spread among 500+ municipalities… the pure duplication of services and administration is massive but voters shoot down regionalization…. then of course our elected officials in DC distribute 10’s of billions of OUR dollars to (mostly) red states which means we get about 60 cents back on every buck we send to Washington… both sides of the aisle are culpable for this…

    .
Tell me, exactly, what part of “the village residents voluntary voted (by a margin of 2.5 to 1) to raise their property taxes by voting in favor of spending 15 million dollars and likely millions more for a stupid garage on Hudson street?”
    .
And your still bitching and moaning here about something the state did to screw you. No one in Ridgewood caused the states financial crisis. New Jerseys financial mess lies squarely at the feet of ALL of the elected government officials in Trenton including current governor Christie and his predecessors.
    .
They were the ones who took your income tax dollars an the money out of each and every pension system and pissed it away on useless pet projects instead of doing what was fiscally responsible. Cry and moan here all you like but like shoveling sand against the tide you are wasting your time!

  9. “Cry and moan here all you like but like shoveling sand against the tide you are wasting your time!” Sounds to me like 10:34 has something to gain from taxes going up, hmmmm? Blame everyone else, but don’t blame unsustainable promises by these elected officials. We get what the unions bought and paid for, right?

  10. So Anonymous November 12, 2015 at 12:27 am your solution to the problem is punish the middle class government workers by making them pay for the sins of the political machine in Trenton, while you and your rich buddies keep getting tax breaks for your employer and you use the tax code to pay next to nothing in taxes while you sit in your multi million dollar home after driving your $70,000 car from your $300.000 + job where your annual bonus is more than what most government employees take home in income in a year. And your here complaining that people who make a fraction of what you make should dig deeper so you don’t have to pay more in taxes. Talk about greedy and selfish! Your the poster boy for what’s wrong with this country.
