This Village has to wake up to the math. A $9mm garage that increases parking by 140 spaces cost about $64,000 per space. If one were to assume that every one of those incremental spaces (because incremental space is what we are paying for) was filled 256 day per year, (360 less weekends), it would take about 10 years at $25 per space per day just to cover the $9mm construction cost. This is a wild ass assumption in its own right. A few other items to think about- i) we can’t build outdoor bathrooms without going over budget so that $9mm figure is a wish, ii) the math mentioned above does not take into consideration financing, operating and capital costs and iii) the Village should not underestimate the external costs associated with increased traffic in an already congested business district. I would guess that when those costs are realistically added in, this project will create significant deficits that would be funded by the tax payers. Hey, let’s go for it assuming we all know how much the pretty building will cost us and who really benefits from another white elephant.
Another Scam to prop up the dreams of failing restaurants and small businesses in town.as a long term resident i park each day on outskirts and walk in to do multiiple store shopping and services post office Ups Rite Aid banks etc if those visitors can figure it out then let store owners float garage on own dimes risk. Different story now
When you wot stand behind a 9 to 12 million dollar parking garage boondoggle.end this insanity. Take
6 million and pave the worst streets
That are killing our cars and budgets. Street conditions are scandalous winter was mild snow wise get it together government
You are not only paying $64,000 for each additional space, but also $64,000 for each existing space.
If you want to find the true cost of “incremental space” the entire cost of the garage would need to be applied to the “incremental space”
Lets face it, the math has always been terrible. The bottom line is you need to raise existing parking fees in the entire CBD to finance a garage that can’t possibly pay for itself. In fairness this was in the original study and the math hasn’t changed.
Scratch my last comment, I didn’t notice you had already done the incremental cost.
We voted out the last Gang..perhaps those new folks have crossed the magic river of unreality .You don’t build for peak use times..economics 101.let these terrific business go bond it themselves. Once privately bonded grant them a 30 year ground leased at below market rates,.different story now?.Police don’t patrol today.you think a rent a cop
will make this garage safe late at night..not a chance…useage goes into the can when it becomes a drug and homeless center..then the Car rental
and urban blight stores open up 24 /7 for the new homeless..pretty picture
Of Potterville gone Bad..
Add underground parking in new building development.
We voted out the last scumbags for mainly this issue. Just when we thought we could forget this debackle current VC brings it up again. We lose people. It was bad with the old VC and it is still not good with the new one especially with that idiot who we thought could actually be the major (JV). Those with an agenda in their hands are impossible to beat. I will not stress myself out anymore. Will just watch hoping for the best. This village has some powerful crooks. I am not going to war to fight them.
I have yet to meet or hear from anyone who is in favor of this garage that doesn’t have some degree of vested interest in it.
Shall we call it Xanadu? American Dream?
Has any engineer ever been asked how far the shadow of this monstrosity would extend over Broad Street, making the restaurants’ sidewalk tables far less appealing? Sook is about to expand next door, too.
Another photo cropped skinny mini distorted photo of that corner monstrosity .

Why is underground parking not being considered?
