“Sustaining bees means ensuring access to “tons and tons and tons of habitat that is rich in native flowers and free of pesticides,” she says. In identifying the best cities for bees, we looked for communities with defined resolutions and commitments to protecting and/or creating sustainable habitats for pollinators. “
.
“The Bee City USA program endorses a set of commitments, defined in a resolution, for creating sustainable habitats for pollinators, which are vital to feeding the planet.”

Some QUESTIONS:
.
1) How much of the Budget is now going to be diverted to support the “Bee City” commitments?
.
2) How much land (REQUIRED pollinator habitats) will be designated for bees and therefore unable to be used for other purposes?
.
3) WHO is our “BEE CITY USA” liaison?
.
4) Who will pay for the (REQUIRED) “National Pollinator Week” celebration?
.
5) What is our official “Comprehensive Bee Plan” ?

Ridgewood has very little wetland area. Why choose this community. I will tell you why, it is RICHwood. Now, I am a wonderin will people and kids on field trips from elementary schools get stung by the bees. Are they more likely to get stung. I was just walkin in Twinney Pond and there are feet thick thickets of white weed flowers surrounding the walking path. RIGHT NOW, you see bees on those flowers. That’s fine, I am a senior bitch, translation, old bitch, so I know not to touch flowers with bees. But kids do NOT. And furthermore there are kids who may be seriously allergic to bee stings and not know it. Why not put the bee city in an area of NJ that has more natural wetlands. Because those communities will not get stung with the cost. Now, what has to happen, is the bee experts have to find out WHY bee colonies are disappearing. That takes bio science. Hey, folks, I ain’t a scientist, but I sure know that putting a bee colony in Twinney Pond is not going to save the food supply. What it is is token showing off. PERIOD.
