Reader says Common sense dictates significant impact on the Village from 4 new developments in the CBD

It’s beyond odd. How can we weigh 4 projects individually when their collective impact has not been considered? Common sense dictates that parking will be more difficult, schools will get more crowded, traffic will be worse and infrastructure will have to be upgraded.

Yet the Mayor and his running mates seem fine with the developers’ assertions that there will be no negative impact brought on by any one of these projects. How can that be? Something smells funny.

  1. No sympathy for the developers – they should have found out what the zoning was before they purchased the parcels. OK, so they will claim hardship and wear everyone down, not to mention incurring lots of legal expenses. That is how they play the game in addition to probably some dirty back room deals with developers and their attorneys.

  2. The reality is that the terms “elected officials and “common sense” rarely appear in the same sentence. There are some backroom deals going on and at least Ms. Walsh had the guts to bring it up and then was attacked by other members of the council.
