Reader says Councilwoman Knudsen actions are an attempt to get to the bottom of this sordid affair

Councilwoman Knudsen, if she really sits and thinks about it, will realize that she has the municipal equivalent of Legislative Privilege to shield her from negative repercussions from the actions she took in an attempt to get to the bottom of this sordid affair, and the public statements she made in attempting to articulate her impressions of the apparent suspicious misfeasance and unaccountable nonfeasance of many of those with whom she shares the local governmental stage. We should all pray for her that she not buckle or crumple under the combined weight of all the unfair attacks lodged against her in response to her probing questions (and they really do seem to be rolling out the big guns). If Ms. Knudsen backs off now the precedent will have been set and this set of circumstances will be repeated as necessary and ad nauseum until legitimate political opposition by the minority becomes a lost art in Ridgewood. On the other hand, if instead she stands her ground (as she absolutely should, since she has done absolutely nothing wrong, and so much that is so sweetly right) and manages to carry her point to its logical conclusion, we will be blessed with a shining, Patton-like example of courage which we can then use as a touchstone during future disputes with the sulphurous political element that has unfortunately surfaced in Ridgewood (and those disputes will come…).

BTW, there is no way a contracted labor attorney can go toe-to-toe with an elected member of the Village Council, regardless of the pure truth of the matter, when there the criticisms made against the former party has such a clear basis in publicly-confirmable fact.

  1. Wednesday night was yet another black stain on the reign of terror of the three dictators.

  2. Interesting —
the “employee” labor attorney was at fault by not asking that her (personal views (be held in a closed discussion to clear the air. Her personal heated views delayed the public meeting and made a sham of Village decorum.

Perhaps, her continued employment needs to be reviewed.

  3. I think that Mrs. Knudsen knew what she was getting into given the history of public vindictiveness that the Council majority had shown to others that have dared to disagree with them. I share your hope that she and Mr. Sedon will not back down. They will lose on 100% of the issues that come to a vote but by shining a light on such poor governance, they will hopefully win the war. Stick to your guns Susan and Mike – there are many that have your back.

  4. Hang in there everyone. We only have one more year of this nightmare.

  5. yes so true 923am

  6. I heard the labor attorney has already told the village she will be leaving at the end of the year and moving to California.

  7. I can’t imagine how Susan sat there and never flinched. I couldn’t have done it and I don’t know anyone else who could have sat there the way she did. I bet the three amigos and the VM acted in concert with the attorney to try to make Susan cry or resign. They look like the bullies they are and Susan held her own. They should be ashamed and I want to know if my tax dollars paid for the attorney to spend an hour attacking our elected councilwoman. Someone has some explaining to do.

  8. 846am and 923am agree with both. The employee attorney violated all rules of decorum and the mayor invited her to do iso. Make no mistake about whose dirty hands are all over this.

  9. 3:05. You betcha your tax dollars paid for that disgraceful performance. It looked like susan was on trial for murder and this was the prosecutors summation.

  10. All billable hours.

  11. How many times did the Labor Attorney use the word Opine ?

  12. Ahronson, Pucch and Hauck should be ashamed. I look forward to the day that Mayor Knudson and Deputy Mayor Sedon have a real council to work with.

  13. Give me some good old-fashioned incivility. By now it should be clear that what came in after incivility was supposedly ushered out (blatant illegality, and smokescreens and stinkbomb set off to hide the same) is many times more corrosive than mere incivility.

  14. 8:53

It won’t be long. We just have to hold out until next spring.

  15. Hopefully they’ll cut Village taxes
