Reader says I am beyond disappointed with the Pomander decision

village Council

I am beyond disappointed with the Pomander decision. It is completely unbalanced and lacks all perspective. That street is probably one of the LEAST driven streets in this whole town. It was done pretty much to punish a local business and I do not understand why the four voted the way they did. We all have problems on our streets, we all deal with safety issues with cars driving too fast creating unsafe conditions for our children. Why are we not all treated equally? And to rub it in, they do not follow the rules so they receive all the benefit and share 0 of the burden. There were no fewer than 4 cars parked on the street this morning. Susan had it exactly right, as usual.

  1. Hell why dosn’t the Village of ridgewood put a gate at the entrance

  2. Hell why doesn’t the Village of Ridgewood put a gate at the entrance to the road and then the residents can have a “Gated Community”

  3. Next they will want their sidewalks ripped up so the can be like the Clinton Pl resident.

  4. Thank you Susan for voting no on this. It is wrong that they have a private street in order to stick it to a business that is simply trying to make a living.

  5. What was the “pomander decision”?

  6. @ 3:27 no parking on their street at all. They were fed up with Santoni drivers circling and idling while waiting for pickups. Last council made the decision because Gwen is church friends with a resident…It was revisited by this council because the cars that were parking there are now parking elsewhere, namely on Sherman, Garfield, Stanley etc creating havoc. Those streets are small, curved and enjoy tremendous amount of cut-through traffic due to GW and Godwin. There could have been restrictions in place (such as parking on one side, or enforcing no idling laws etc.) but instead gave this one street what they wanted. This frustrates me because many residents deal with people speeding, idling, cutting through etc. We all have young children. Their street is tiny with fewer children than many others streets so why do they get special attention?? As Susan said, we are all taxpayers, I should be able to park on your street and you on mine.

    .
    Not everyone agrees with you…
They were doing PSEG work on my street so I had to park a few blocks away for a few days.
I parked the car and the nut-job who lived in the house ran out and told me I could not park there.
I wished her a nice day and walked home.

  8. This is unacceptable! No street in Ridgewood should have no parking!

  9. This is outrageous! No street in town should have no parking!

  10. @ 5:27 that is crazy. People may not like it, but it is perfectly legal and within our rights as taxpayers to park in front of any house we choose….as anyone who lives near a school, women’s club or other public property can tell you…

  11. As residents we hear so often how important it is for parking for our busineses. Why are the residents on Pomander more at risk from street traffic and parking than any other street in town? Why do they get special treatment. And if it is not special treatment, can other residents also work towards getting their own private street?

We can’t say we care about residents and then push the problem to other residents. We can’t say we want businesses to succeed and we need parking and then remove street parking.

  12. Let them buy the street from the Village and then they can maintain it with their money

  13. 12:45, PS you are still here? Good to see you here.
