Reader says , “Living near a school requires a person to put up with a number of things”

Ridgewood Police RHS

“If I lived on the neighboring streets, I would be gathering neighbors together to fight this asap. Living near a school requires a person to put up with a number of things, things that you understand before you purchase the home. I am sure none of these people signed up for living within a few hundred feet from a performing arts center. We all know that to keep it running, it will have to be constantly rented out. The traffic through the neighborhood is bad during normal school times and if I lived near there I would not want to add any additional congestion. I hope that people band together to stop this craziness. “

  1. I’m beginning to wonder if the BOE’s strategy is to ask for the stars (i.e., make a completely unreasonable request of taxpayers) in order to get the moon.

  2. Asking for the stars is the right analysis. Those of you who were here during the referendums in the 90’s may remember the proposed swimming pool that disappeared when the first attempt was voted down. The size of this project has been bumped up from $20 million to $30 million so it can be reduced back down to demonstrate a “savings”

  3. The swimming pool is a great comparison. The community was appalled that with the Y and Graydon, the BOE claimed the HS “needed” a pool and crushed that BOE pipe dream. Where is the evidence that any club or activity is currently constrained, and their education permanently blighted, by the lack of a Taj Mahal performing arts center? The BOE is out of its collective mind.
