“They should have installed the Kiosks and increased the rates before approving the garage. Thereby having confidence in having sufficient revenue to pay for the garage. In addition it would have been interesting to see the opposition and the likely reduced parking demand in advance.
Some may actually believe another garage will be built in another section of the CBD. To fund a second garage, meter rates will likely need to be $3+per hour. Too bad only a few nearby restaurants will actually benefit from the Hudson Street garage. “
A financial nightmare in the form of skyrocketing property taxes awaits Ridgewood residents following the completion of this project. Mark my words.
What about the cost overruns that are coming .
Not to worry.
.
We’re RICH and STUPID.
.
Well if they do not have the revenue the top officials have the power to stop this construction immediately. Unless they have something up their sleeve with borrowing money. Money is very cheap right now to borrow maybe that is an option. All the options should be on the table at once. If the numbers don’t work turn it back to a regular parking lot like it was.
This is terrible news .we all wonder what the mayor council and the top brass are going to do about this..Are they going to do nothing and not worry about it now in a few years and they will all be gone. Then the next new regime will sharpen the ax once again. We seen this movie about 12 years ago or so when we had a big layoff with 40 people being laid off throughout the village. The last time this happened was when the village hall construction project went to over 13 million, and then they spent Millions on the property up on Hillcrest the old horse farm. And if so the taxpayer president has to make up the difference how much more will it be per year just curious on the math.
All the current council wants to do is blame the prior mayor. They think they arent doing anything wrong, they are perfect. Far from it
The talk on the street is the village of Ridgewood has borrowed a large sum of money. Some will say why. We were told because it’s cheap to borrow money at this time. What are they going to do with this large sum of money well we don’t know. Are they going to investigate probably ,sounds smart. Are they going to use it for rollover cash possibility, are they going to utilize some funds to balance budgets possibility. This sounds very interesting. If this is true which we did not see any paperwork this is getting very interesting.
This is going to be one big shit storm in a few years. You just wait-and-see people.
Somebody fucked up. A few years ago there was a corporation that was going to come into town and build a parking garage and they were going to have the revenue for the first 10 years. After 10 years then they will give it to the town. They should’ve won with that. No but the town wanted to be greedy .That was going to happen they going to give the police and the fire very little raises for the next 10 years.
Where there’s smoke = likely fire ..all the bad facts surface in the late summer or holidays and hidden in some obscure minutes re parking budget..towns out of control
citizens.we need a new emergency government with some
real financial forensics. We should put all new projects under lock and key and start to explore options to stop the raised garage project until All facts are known .There will be penalties yes..but more serious risk exists to go forward. There’s no parents running this operation
taxpayers.,they make it up as they line up their deals
It’s so simple. Just go and shop in Westwood where individual meters cost 25 cents per hour. No kiosks!
