Parking is confusing. Lots of signs and restrictions. It feels like the town has decided that parking enforcement will be a revenue center.
The risk of ticket and 2 hour limitations make it even less likely that I will be in town during business hours.
I come in for dinner when it is safe.
What’s even more confusing is the signs on the meters saying they are for Valet parking but clearly does not spell out it’s only for Thursday to Saturday.
And with limited parking on these days, many people park at the banks which are closeout.
A new thing has started. These Valet people are now putting cones in the bank parking lots and reserving the spaces for themselves.
There are no signs in these parking lots saying that they are reserved for Valet only.
Just move those cones if you need a spot.
Yeah, I found a parking place. But I have an old flip phone. I can’t pay. And, believe me, I looked on the street before I finally came into this lot. Progress is so wonderful.
Agree. Parking is a disaster, these rules are ridiculous and we should have built the garage when we had the chance. So far this council has done nothing but confuse people with lots of rules and regulations that don’t serve the taxpayer. The last mayor and council was head and shoulders above this group. Now we can only water twice a week, on certain days, during prescribed hours. The new village manager who I didn’t even know was given the position sent an email that links to the ordinance, rather than stating the rules so people can actually understand the next thing they are doing not to serve us. Poor communication all the way around, bad ideas/solutions and a panel of bureaucrats running the town. And am I correct that the mayor inducted 2 of her sons into the police force? But I haven’t seen one raised eyebrow about that.
Parking in this town is a joke. Our board members have made parking so confusing and added no relief. Why?? Are they so afraid to talk about building a parking garage. It has been done in other towns like Summit, Morristown and Montclair and have add parking relief to the downtown business district. We have so many areas that are eyesores that could be redeveloped but still nothing is done. Close your eyes and ears and hope the problem goes away does not work. Again there is a group in town that is afraid of change and to move this town forward.
