I posted this on the election results topic but also bringing it here because I am very curious:
So Murphy gets 17% more votes than Guadagno in Ridgewood. I just can’t understand for the life of me how people who have a great town (compared to many other areas in NJ) vote so overwhelmingly for someone who promises to basically turn NJ upside down with the sanctuary and “fairer state” promises!!!! I mean this guy basically says I will raise your taxes, I will surround you with illegal emigrants and low income people and I will make you pay for them and in the process I will lower your property value and badly damage your quality of life. How do you vote for him????? How can white, rich people who make their $$$$ in capitalism vote for a socialist?? I understand his promises are very appealing to Paterson, Jersey City, Elizabeth, Clifton etc. but I just don’t get where the appeal is for Ridgewood?? I know many voted against Christie but Christie wasn’t even on the ballot.
Anybody cares to chip in? I am speechless.

First of all, James, your title misleads and gives credence to an anonymous bigoted opinion. This is not the first time I’ve seen this on your blog. Up your game and establish some guidelines barring racist or otherwise bigoted comments.
Second of all, allowing people to post anonymously brings out the cretins and trolls who don’t have the guts to stand behind their words. Your blog looks like it’s suffering/has few readers because of this. Nobody wants to waste their time reading stupid troll comments. Limit to decent, supported opinions from readers with the cogliani to use their names and maybe you’ll draw more readers. Otherwise, it’ll remain a badly attended bitchfest.
Finally, to the few commenters here, I discern from your posts that you are bigoted asses and it’s you who disgrace our village with your presence. Be civilized adults or gtfo. I’ve lived here for 55 years and have never read such worthless, characterless comments.
Ridgewood has always been a beautiful village with lots of decent families doing the best they can and interacting nicely.

Pesmith , you have repeated this accusation as long as I can remember , why not move to Paterson to test your theory , btw Paterson was not always the dump it is today , it was founded by Alexander Hamiliton , as the first industrial city in the USA , it was very RICH and the center of the silk industry with the falls supplying cheap renewable energy , unions ,taxes and democrats drove the business out of Paterson like they did the rest of the state. Now Paterson takes in massive money from the state via redistribution , East side high has been caught importing foreigners to prop up sports teams , many previous mayors and council members now reside in prison due to corruption , the crime rate index in Paterson is more than double the rest of the state and they rank #373 in the entire USA. Paterson schools are an Abbott district , only 19 kids took the SAT tests ,in PARCC tests under 46% of students meet expectations . Sorry this is a disgrace and there is no reason for it except bad politics the same politics that got sanctuary phil elected
Well, I did grow up on a street sandwiched between 2 projects. I lived in Hoboken when it was an “urban frontier” and spent many a day with my grandparents in Newark. They lived off of Springfield Ave. and it was a war zone back then too so been there done that. Yes Paterson has more than its share of self inflicted wounds and yes, Abbott districts are a black hole. But generalizing these towns as if all residents are all the same sounds like stereotyping and/or bigotry to me. Btw, Sanctuary Phil’s election was also a result of Christie fatigue, which doomed Guadagno and put the republican party in a bad way.
